A stormwater tank is an essential piece of infrastructure, but much of its operation takes place underground and is difficult to observe during a visit. The challenge was to explain the journey of the water to institutional and school audiences without having fully defined technical documentation.
An experience was developed comprising a conceptual scale model, an interactive digital 3D model and a 43-inch touchscreen lectern. The physical layer provides context, while the digital layer allows visitors to explore each part and understand the different stages of the process.
The interaction synchronises the content with the lighting of the scale model. From rainfall and collection through to processing, filtration and reuse, visitors follow a clear sequence rather than receiving an abstract explanation.
The production process required the system to be reconstructed using photographs, old plans and meetings with the technical team. This interpretative work made it possible to turn fragmented information into a coherent and educational representation.
Installed at the stormwater tank itself, the solution is used for institutional visits and school trips. The result makes hidden infrastructure visible and provides a reusable tool for explaining its environmental and urban role.
